The race will begin and conclude at Harden Clubhouse, following a carefully marked trail around Elon’s campus. All proceeds from the race will benefit Duke Children’s Hospital in Durham, N.C. The registration fee is $10 and the first 300 people to register will recieve a free t-shirt.

“The race is our first major event before ELONTHON 2009,” said ELONTHON executive council member Maureen Grewe. “We hope to host more of these events throughout the year, especailly events that work with other organizations.”

The ELONTHON executive council is made up of  12 students and four faculty advisors. These students plan and facilitate the entire event which will take place April 4-5 of this year.

Sign-up for the race in the Moseley Center or by contacting a member of ELONTHON executive council or Phi Mu Sorority.

It’s important for journalists to provide people with advance information before events. This is a good piece to include because Elon THON is such a big campus event. And, of course, everyone always wants to be put on alert when there is a chance to get yet another FREE T-SHIRT! 😉 My question for you is where will the race be taking place. That’s hard to tell.

AP Style is to write that: The race will benefit Duke Children’s Hospital in Durham, N.C., and the registration fee is $10.

Note the commas around the name of the state. Also, in AP Style, in the third paragraph you would use lower-case on executive council.
